“Memorable Moments from the Purple Rain Tour”
The Purple Rain Tour was an unforgettable experience that I will always treasure. As one of Prince’s bodyguards, I had the privilege of being a part of the tour and experiencing the excitement and energy firsthand. It was a fantastic ride that I will never forget with fond memories.
But I have to give credit to the people who made this experience possible, particularly my mentor Charles “Big Chick” Huntsberry.
Chick was the one who introduced me to the bodyguard industry and helped guide me on my journey to become a professional in this field. Without his guidance and support, I would not have had the opportunity to work on such a high-profile tour.
Chick has always been a mentor to me, and I am grateful for everything he has done for me. He always believed in my potential and encouraged me to pursue my dreams.
He and Mark Brown are the ones who connected me with the job working for Prince, and I will always be thankful for that opportunity.
Unfortunately, Chick is no longer with us; his memory and legacy will always live on. He was an important figure in my life and career, and I will always be grateful for his guidance and support. He is gone but not forgotten.
I also want to mention a few other individuals who were a part of the Purple Rain Tour and made it a memorable experience for me.
Earl “The Fabulous 1” Jones, Prince’s hairdresser, was always a pleasure to work with. He was kind, friendly, and always had a positive attitude, which made him a joy to be around.
Wally Safford was another critical security team member, and he played a vital role in making the tour a success. He was always hardworking, reliable, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly.
These individuals and many others helped make the Purple Rain Tour a truly unforgettable experience. They are no longer with us, but their contributions will always be remembered and appreciated. They are gone but not forgotten, and their legacies will always be a part of the Purple Rain Tour and its lasting impact on music history.
Working on the Purple Rain Tour was an incredible experience, and I have so many memories that I will always treasure. From the opening night at the Joe Louis arena to the final show at the Orange Bowl, which was appropriately renamed the Purple Bowl, each performance was filled with energy and excitement.
Backstage with Prince and the rest of the crew was an experience I will never forget. Prince was an absolute icon, and it was a privilege to be a part of his team.
Being a part of such an iconic moment in music history and working on the Purple Rain Tour will always mean a lot to me.
But it wasn’t just about the shows and the music. The tour also allowed me to meet many amazing people and make new friends.
Gilbert Davidson, a college football teammate and lifelong friend; Alan Leeds, the tour manager for Purple Rain and a trusted advisor and friend; and Mark Brown, my childhood friend who helped me get the job working for Prince, all played vital roles in making the tour a success and were great people to be around.
Overall, the Purple Rain Tour was a fantastic experience I will always treasure. I am grateful to Charles “Big Chick” Huntsberry for introducing me to the bodyguard industry and his support and guidance.
I am also thankful to Gilbert, Alan, and Mark for their friendship and contributions to the tour. And, of course, none of this would have ever happened without Prince himself, who was an absolute icon and a true talent. It was an unforgettable journey that I will always look back on with pride and gratitude.
